Consciousness returned quickly to her, and she blinked rapidly to clear her eyes of her slumber. The room was very close to complete darkness, and so after a moment she embraced, and channelled with a fluid thought.

Six orbs of light blinked into existence in familiar positions around her bedchamber - casting an almost natural light. The grey sister kicked off her heavy sheets and sat up, swinging her legs from the bed before slipping her feet into silk slippers. A faint sigh passed her lips, sleep had always seemed a frivolous activity - though obviously necessary - and it always seemed there was some other, better, activity to be engaged with.

Standing, she crossed the two-tone woven rug, to a stand-mirror and took a look. Within the mirrors moderately ornate oval border, stood a woman whose facial features showed the ageless characteristic of Aes Sedai very prominently over her face. A pale blue-grey eye like a chip of shattered ice flickered over the form, followed blindly by the milk-cast left eye, the colour barely visible beneath the scar tissue. The mutilation extended over the left side of her face, scarring working its way over pale skin like veins upon marble, from forehead to lower cheek. Her hair had darkened over the years, to almost black - wavey, and not particularly stunning, except for two pure white streaks down either side of her head.

The scars had been born not long after her raising to the shawl. She had travelled as soon as possible to the Borderlands, and though the facts are sketchy to all but herself, she had ended up in the Blight - a patrol had returned her to Kandor, and Aes Sedai sent for, but by the time she had been Healed by a sister less than expert in the field, the injury had already been much healed by nature - setting the scars as part of her reflection. It did not matter much to her now, it occasionally even had a positive effect - people were often unsure of how to react and it put them off-stride. She had never been a beauty anyway, very plain and bordering on the less than handsome, with a large nose and thin lips, average height, average build - decidedly average.

She slipped on a gossamer robe, and the orbs shot out before her into her dressing chamber - mannequins wore the armour of half a dozen countries and stood sentry duty over her wardrobe. She had become a collector… and each country she visited she picked up a memento or two. She had concentrated recently on aiding countries in retaining trade during times of war or rebellion; a volatile and dangerous situation for traders, her advice had helped the financial situations and trade politics of countries over the world.

Embracing again, flame flared into being - a great strength of Khala’s - and lit the room along the ensconced braziers.

What would today bring?
